What you see

White flour-like dusting on both leaf faces, spreading until leaves yellow and crisp. The classic late-summer courgette death.

Conditions

Warm DRY days with humid nights - unlike most fungi it loves dry leaves. Peak: August-September.

Treatment

Milk spray (1 part milk : 9 water) every few days, or sulphur; strip the worst leaves; keep roots moist.

Prevention

Resistant varieties; generous spacing; succession-sow courgettes in June so fresh plants replace mildewed ones.
