Peach leaf curl
Taphrina deformans · Lepra do pessegueiro
What you see
New leaves emerge thickened, puckered and blistered, flushed red or pink, then whiten with spores and drop. Repeated defoliation exhausts the tree.
Conditions
Infects during cool wet weather as buds swell - exactly this coast's late winter. By the time you SEE it, infection happened weeks ago.
Treatment
Nothing cures visible curl. Strip and bin the worst leaves, feed and water well to help the tree push clean growth.
Prevention
The whole game is copper BEFORE infection: spray at leaf fall (Nov-Dec) and again at bud swell (Jan-Feb). Two sprays, every year, no exceptions.
